JUNIOR SEA CADETS
Begin the voyage…
Imagine building your own raft, learning to steer a boat, or making new friends while camping under the stars. That’s what life is like for our Junior Sea Cadets…
At TS Fernie, our Junior Sea Cadets programme welcomes young people aged 9 to 12, offering a dynamic environment where fun meets personal development. Through engaging, hands-on activities, juniors build confidence, forge friendships, and lay the foundation for future success.
Our Junior Cadets meet every Tuesday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM throughout the year, briefly pausing over Christmas. Due to high interest, we often have a waiting list—please contact us early to arrange a visit and secure a place.

A Colourful Journey of Discovery
Our Junior Sea Cadets Programme is divided into four vibrant sections—Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green—each packed with themed activities designed to inspire learning through adventure. With the support of our dedicated Junior Training Officer, cadets complete fun, hands-on tasks to earn section badges as they progress.
Along the way, cadets can achieve up to four proficiency qualifications. These include practical sessions on the water—learning how boats float, steer, and stay safe—as well as exciting STEM-based projects that bring science and maths to life. There are also national challenges and awards to aim for.
It’s all about learning by doing, building skills for life while having a great time.
