VOLUNTEERS

Are you ready to help launch the next generation?

Volunteer Roles

Volunteers are the backbone of the Market Harborough Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets. Moreover, whether you’ve got a passion for watersports, a background in administration or wish to share your skills with young people, there’s a place for you. Additionally, you need no prior experience—we provide all the training you need to feel fully equipped to make a real difference. Finally, joining our team allows you to develop new skills, gain recognised qualifications and support youth development in our community.

Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering with us is tremendously rewarding and offers far more than you might expect. Not only will you help develop future leaders, but you’ll also acquire new skills and relish opportunities for personal growth. Furthermore, there’s a genuine sense of pride in seeing young people thrive under your guidance. Additionally, you’ll gain access to exclusive training and career development opportunities, including nationally recognised qualifications.

How to Get Involved

If you’re ready to make an impact, it’s easy to get started – contact us, and we’ll match you with a role that aligns with your skills and interests. Additionally, with full support and comprehensive training, you will quickly feel at home in our team. Finally, we’ll guide you every step of the way to ensure your volunteering journey is both rewarding and fulfilling.

Unit Instructor

As a Unit Instructor, you’ll help cadets develop valuable skills in a supportive and engaging environment. In addition, whether in uniform or not, you’ll lead lessons and activities that help cadets progress, gain qualifications and build their confidence. Furthermore, this role is ideal for individuals passionate about teaching and empowering young people to become capable, responsible, and confident adults.

Watersports Instructor

Share your love for watersports by teaching cadets skills in kayaking, sailing, powerboating, canoeing, rowing and windsurfing. In addition, if you have no prior experience, that’s no problem – we’ll support you in earning national qualifications through the RYA and PaddleUK. What’s more, all you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to pass on your passion for being on the water. You’ll inspire cadets while developing your own leadership and instructional skills.

Unit Management Team

As part of the Unit Management Team, you will support the unit in roles such as Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, or Fundraiser, ensuring our organisation runs smoothly behind the scenes. Furthermore, if you cannot commit to weekly on-site sessions, your specialist skills in finance, administration, or community outreach can still make a significant impact. What’s more, every contribution you make will leave a lasting legacy on the success of the unit and the confidence of the cadets.

Think outside the box.

No matter your skills or experience, there’s always a way for you to make a positive impact. Whether it’s photography, marketing, IT, social‑media management, finance or even driving, your expertise could help young people flourish. Furthermore, by reaching out to your local unit for a casual conversation, you can discover opportunities that align with your interests and availability. Finally, your contribution will help keep the doors open for future cadets and strengthen our community for years to come.
