HELP US FIND A NEW HOME

TS Fernie is desperately looking for a new permanent home for our cadets.

VOLUNTEERS

Can you help launch the next generation?

Volunteer Roles

Volunteers are the backbone of the Market Harborough Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets. Whether you’ve got a passion for watersports, a background in admin, or want to share your skills with young people, there’s a spot for you. Don’t worry if you’ve no prior experience—we’ll provide all the training you need, so you’ll feel equipped to make a real difference.

Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteering with us is rewarding in more ways than one. Not only will you help develop future leaders, but you’ll also learn new skills and enjoy opportunities for personal growth. There’s a real sense of pride in helping young people thrive, and you’ll gain access to exclusive training and career development opportunities.

How to Get Involved

If you’re ready to make an impact, it’s easy to start. Contact us, and we’ll match you with a role that fits your skills and interests. With full support and training, you’ll quickly feel at home in our team.

Unit Instructor

As a Unit Instructor, you’ll help cadets develop valuable skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Whether in uniform or not, you’ll lead lessons and activities that help cadets progress, gain qualifications, and build their confidence. This role is ideal for those passionate about teaching and empowering young people to become capable, responsible, and confident adults.

Watersports Instructor

Share your love for watersports by teaching cadets skills in kayaking, sailing, powerboating, canoeing, rowing, and windsurfing. No prior experience? No problem! We’ll help you earn national qualifications through the RYA and PaddleUK. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to pass on your passion for being on the water!

Unit Management Team

Consider joining the Unit Management Team if you cannot commit to regular weekly volunteering. You could support the unit in roles like Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, or Fundraiser. These positions are ideal for those with specialist skills or those who can’t always be on-site. Every bit of help makes a difference, and your contributions will have a lasting impact on the success of the unit and the cadets.

Think outside the box.

No matter your skills or experience, there’s always a way for you to make a positive impact. Whether it’s photography, marketing, IT, social media management, finance, or even driving, your expertise could help young people flourish. Contact your local unit for a casual chat about how you can contribute and help keep the doors open for future cadets.
