Uniforms

The Sea Cadet Corps, including the Royal Marines Cadets, are unique amongst the cadet forces in that we are entitled to wear the formal/ceremonial No. 1’s uniforms of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines as well as the regular working rig. The uniform is identical for both male and female cadets.

TS Fernie charges a small joining fee as a contribution to cover boots and any badges cadets may be awarded during their time in the cadets. All uniforms are provided by and remain the property of either TS Fernie or the Royal Navy. As cadets grow, we will move them to the next size as appropriate.

Please note: The replacement cost of a complete set of Sea Cadet or Royal Marines Cadet uniforms from the MoD can be up to £850. Therefore, we kindly request that they be well-maintained and that any loss/damage be reported promptly. Loss, malicious, or careless damage may need to be paid for.

Sea Cadets

No. 1 Uniform

This is the traditional Royal Navy uniform, now worn for formal and ceremonial occasions. It comprises a white cap, blue collar, black silk, white lanyard, white shirt, blue jumper and trousers, and black parade boots.

Sea Cadet

RN PCS Uniform

The uniform is worn at most Sea Cadet activities and parade nights. It is similar to the regular working rig for both officers and ratings within the Royal Navy, consisting of: navy beret, blue PCS jacket, black t-shirt, blue belt, blue PCS trousers, black working boots, with a navy jersey, and an RN foul weather jacket, often known as a ‘windie’.

Royal Marines Cadets

No. 1 / Blues Uniform

Worn at formal and ceremonial occasions. This is also worn at our regular monthly 1’s Night, typically the first Tuesday. This uniform consists of a white RM cap, tunic, trousers, black parade boots, white belt and white gloves.

Royal Marines Cadets

MTP Uniform

Similar to the PCS worn by the Sea Cadets, the Royal Marines Cadets wear ‘MTP’ for most activities, reflecting the Royal Marines’ regular working rig. It consists of a blue RM beret, an MTP jacket, an olive jersey, a windproof MTP smock, MTP trousers, and brown working boots.

Junior Sea Cadets

Junior Uniform

Juniors wear a beret, a white Sea Cadet polo shirt and a navy sweatshirt supplied by TS Fernie. They then wear their own grey or black school trousers and black school shoes. Juniors also wear a brassard on their right arm, showing the badges they have achieved as a Junior Sea Cadet.
